Express Entry

Skilled immigrants are chosen as permanent residents under express entry based on Human capital Model which means factors like age, educations, language proficiency, work experience and other factors. each criteria is given a  score as per Comprehensive Ranking System.  However,  this is not a new way to qualify for immigration as the applicant still has to qualify in one of the main express entry categories.

Express entry manages applications for permanent residence under following programs:-

  • Federal Skilled worker
  • federal skilled trade
  • Canadian experience class
  • PNP

Once express entry profile is submitted, and if the applicant receives an Invitation to Apply, he / she has only 90 days to submit the file online for permanent residency. Any kind of misrepresentation finding render the applications inadmissible for a period of five(5) Years. Meaning these applications are banned for 5 Years from entering Canada

FEDERAL SKILLED WORKER PROGRAM (FSW)

Federal skilled workers (FSW) are chosen as permanent residents based on their ability to settle in Canada and take part in our economy. Ordinarily, a Federal Skilled Worker Program application process is under six months.  In order to be eligible for the Federal Skilled Worker Program, an individual must have :-

  • Worked in an occupation in the NOC 0, A or B categories for at least one year in the past 10. Volunteer /non paid work doesn’t count.
  • Qualify fully in this program under the assessment grid and points system based on your age, education, work history, and other adaptability factors, with a current pass mark of 67
  • You must have your Education Credentials Assessment done and in your hand prior to applying
  • You must have your English or French Language proficiency test done with minimum CLB 7
  • Settlement funds for your arrival, depending upon the family size.
  • No serious health issues, or a criminal record that would make you inadmissible to Canada
  • Plans to live outside Quebec.
  • Having an offer of employment from within Canada gives you additional points

FEDERAL SKILLED TRADES PROGRAM (FST)

This program is for individuals who want to become permanent residents of Canada based on their qualification for a skilled trade. Currently following NOCs are eligible for Federal Skilled trades program:

  1. Major Group 72, industrial, electrical and construction trades,
  2. Major Group 73, maintenance and equipment operation trades,
  3. Major Group 82, supervisors and technical jobs in natural resources, agriculture and related production,
  4. Major Group 92, processing, manufacturing and utilities supervisors and central control operators,
  5. Minor Group 632, chefs and cooks, and
  6. Minor Group 633, butchers and bakers.

Following are some of the criteria for this program:-

  • plan to live outside the province of Quebec
  • meet the required levels in English or French for each language ability (speaking, reading, writing and listening),
  • have at least two years of full-time work experience (or an equal amount of part-time work experience) in a skilled trade within the five years before you apply,
  • meet the job requirements for that skilled trade as set out in the National Occupational Classification (NOC), except for needing a certificate of qualification. (In Canada, provinces and territories issue certificates of qualification in the skilled trades. To get a certificate, the provincial or territorial trades authority must assess your training, trade experience and skills to decide if you are eligible to write an exam to be certified).
  • have an offer of full-time employment for a total period of at least one year or a certificate of qualification in that skilled trade issued by a Canadian provincial or territorial authority.(Please note that up to two employers can commit to employing you for at least one year of continuing work experience).
  • No serious health issues, or a criminal record that would make you inadmissible to Canada

CANADIAN EXPERIENCED CLASS

The Canadian Experience Class (CEC) is specially designed for international students (who have already graduated ) and temporary foreign workers who are already in Canada on a Temporary Foreign Worker Permit.  Temporary Foreign Workers are ideal candidates to obtain Permanent Residence because they have already become immersed in Canadian society. This program should be of interest to all international students who have graduated and have worked in Canada for one year after graduating.

Minimum requirements

You must:

  • have at least 12 months of full-time (or an equal amount in part-time) skilled work experience in Canada in the three years before you apply in NOC 0, A or B
  • have gained your experience in Canada with the proper authorization,
  • meet the required language levels needed for your job for each language ability (CLB 7 for NOC 0 and A jobs and CLB 5 for NOC B )
  • plan to live outside the province of Quebec.
  • be admissible to Canada

Self-employment and work experience gained while you were a full-time student (for example, on a co-op work term) does not count under this program.
